چکیده

By using the inverse spectral transform, the SRS equations are solved and the explicit output data is given for arbitrary laser pump and Stokes seed profiles injected on a vacuum of optical phonons. For long duration laser pulses, this solution is modified such as to take into account the damping rate of the optical phonon wave. This model is used to interprete the experiments of Drühl, Wenzel and Carlsten (Phys. Rev. Lett., (1983) 51, 1171), in particular the creation of a spike of (anomalous) pump radiation. The related nonlinear Fourier spectrum does not contain discrete eigenvalue, hence this Raman spike is not a soliton. Investigation of Scalar Modulation Instability in the Presence of Raman Scattering in Photonic Crystal Fibers

In this paper, by including Raman scattering in the coupled-mode equations, the scalar modulation instability in photonic crystal fibers is investigated. The evolution of the pump, Stokes and anti-Stokes waves along the fiber as well as the conversion efficiency for two cases, with and without Raman effect, are studied. The effect of anti-Stokes seed and the pump depletion on the evolution of S...

Comprehensive Theoretical Study on Threshold Power of Stimulated Brillouin Scattering in Single-Mode Fibers

We have investigated and developed a theoretical approach to explore stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) phenomena in single mode fiber. SBS happening threshold power condition has been studied in terms of fiber parameters and input pump power. To assess threshold power precisely, the pump depletion effect and fiber loss has been included by employing 1% criterion. The threshold exponential g...

Vectorial stimulated Raman scattering resolution on the semi-line

Stimulated Raman scattering between a laser pump pulse and a Stokes pulse is considered in a two-level medium with vectorial optical fields. The model on the semi-line is proved to be solvable by inverse scattering transform scheme. Among solutions, soliton generation is discussed. Then, it is shown how rotation of the Stokes wave leads to a spike of pump radiation in the time domain.

16 - , um generation by C 0 2 - pumped rotational Raman scattering in H 2

In 1976 Byer proposed using stimulated rotational Raman scattering in hydrogen gas as an efficient method of frequency conversion in the infrared.' In particular, it was noted that stimulated Raman scattering in para-H 2 gas with a CO2 laser pump generates 16-gm radiation, which is of potential use for UF 6 isotope enrichment. It was subsequently learned that others have also suggested stimulat...

A simple theory for the Raman spike

The classical stimulated Raman scattering system describing resonant interaction between two electromagnetic waves and a fast relaxing medium wave is studied by introducting a systematic perturbation approach in powers of the relaxation time. We separate amplitude and phase effects for these complex fields. The analysis of the former shows the existence of a stagnation distance after which mono...
